Our character cottage is in the small riverside village of Glasbury-on-Wye, just 4 miles upstream from the book town of Hay-on-Wye. Glasbury-on-Wye is on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, ideally situated to explore the gloriously unspoilt moorlands and valleys of Mid Wales.
The cottage is in a lovely sunny position with views of the Black Mountains and glimpses of Pen-y-fan (the highest point in the Brecon Beacons). It has an oak framed garden room leading to a sunny terraced seating area in our large back garden. We are just 2-minutes walk from the river where you can rent a canoe and paddle down to Hay-on-Wye or beyond or chill out on the shingle beach.
Breakfasts
We
are a vegetarian household and for breakfast we offer a buffet
selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurt followed by cooked options
including a cooked meat-free breakfast, boiled or scrambled eggs
from local free range hens or porridge with fruit and maple syrup.
This is rounded off with our home baked wholemeal toast with Nicky’s
home made jams and local honey. We are also very happy to cater for
vegan or gluten free diets.
For evening meals Foyles Restaurant is just 2 minutes walk away (open Wednesday to Sunday) and our village pub, The Harp Inn offers good pub grub and a friendly welcome. There is also a shop/post office at the garage in the village.
